Prof. António Parreira has been Clinical Director of the Champalimaud Clinical Centre since it opened in 2011, as well as being a Professor of Medicine (Haematology) at the Faculty of Medical Sciences at Nova University in Lisbon. He is also the Director of the Haemato-Oncology Unit at the CCC.
Prof. Parreira received his Diploma in Medicine, his Haematology Board Certificate and his PhD in Haematology all from the Lisbon University of Medicine.
His illustrious career has taken Prof. Parreira from Portugal (where he was a resident at Santa Maria Hospital, Lisbon), to France (resident in Haematology, Henri Mondor Hospital), to the United Kingdom (Research Fellow at the Leukaemia Unit, Royal Postgraduate Medical School, London), among many other important institutions. Upon returning to Lisbon, Prof. Parreira fulfilled several different roles with the Portuguese Institute of Cancer, including Head of the Haematology Department and Director of the Oncology Research Centre.
Among the many scientific societies that Prof. Parreira is a member of include: the Lisbon Society of Medical Sciences, the Portuguese Haematology Society, the Spanish Association of Haematology and Haemotherapy, the European Society for Medical Oncology, the European Haematology Association and the American Society of Haematology.
