Joana Ribeiro

Areas of interest: Breast tumours, Biology of cancer, Translational research

Joana Ribeiro joined the Champalimaud Breast Unit in 2012. She graduated from the University of Lisbon, Faculty of Medicine in 2004 and started her residency in Medical Oncology in 2006 at the Hospital de Santa Maria. She is board certified in Medical Oncology. Since 2006, she has dedicated an important part of her time to translational research in breast cancer, and has been a member of the Clinical and Translational Oncology Research Unit of Lisbon’s Instituto de Medicina Molecular.

She has been actively involved in teaching and has been an Oncobiology teacher and Master’s thesis supervisor at the University of Lisbon’s Faculty of Medicine, and a teacher of Oncopharmacology for radiotherapy students at the Escola Superior de Saúde de Lisboa. In 2011, she completed a fellowship in the Breast Unit of the European Institute of Oncology in Milan. She is a member of both ESMO and ASCO.
