Advanced Surgical Solutions

Dr. Nuno Figueiredo introduces the Champalimaud Surgical Centre

The Champalimaud Clinical Centre utilises a range of advanced surgical solutions in order to achieve the very best clinical outcomes.

Why coose the CCC

In terms of inpatient support, our surgical centre comprises 4 equipped, state-of-the-art operating theatres, an Intensive Care Unit and 26 rooms. In keeping with the CCC’s patient-centred philosophy, each room has been designed with comfort and well-being in mind. These rooms offer magnificent views of the River Tejo as we use every tool at our disposal, including our environmental surroundings, to promote the peace and tranquility of our patients.

In addition to conventional surgical equipment, each operating theatre takes advantage of the latest technology and techniques in the fields of robotic, laparoscopic and microscopic surgery. In particular, the CCC utilises a Da Vinci Xi Surgical System, a state-of-the-art platform optimised for complex four-quadrant surgery with 3DHD vision and full anatomical access utilising high precision movements beyond the capability of the human hand. With the acquisition of this equipment, the first of its kind in Portugal, the CCC is able to offer the most technologically sophisticated surgical interventions available.

The cement its commitment to being at the forefront of innovations and developments in surgery, the CCC hosts the European Academy of Robotic Colorectal Surgery.

The CCC also houses an Ambulatory Surgery Unit featuring a hybrid room that combines all the capabilities of an operating room with a set of high accuracy and definition medical imaging equipment. The unit is therefore able to offer both surgical and interventional radiology procedures with 3D intraoperative imaging. In oncology, the unit’s main areas of activity focus on minimally invasive surgery of the digestive tract, liver, biliary tract, pancreas, urology, breast, gynaecology, bronchology, percutaneous and endovascular interventional radiology, and neurosurgery. The Unit’s in-house equipment, technology and expertise are also available for a variety of non-cancer related procedures.
